Swedish winger of Nigerian descent, Jeremy Agbonifo, has completed a permanent move to RC Lens following an impressive loan stint, the club has confirmed. Agbonifo initially joined in January 2025 on a paid loan reported at €1 million, with an automatic purchase obligation if Lens maintained their Ligue 1 status.

The 19 year old made an instant impact upon arrival, scoring within his first minute as a substitute in a 1–0 over Montpellier. Across eight Ligue 1 appearances, he netted once and demonstrated his promise in European qualifiers for his former club BK Häcken.

Lens will formalise the €6.5 million transfer this summer, as stipulated in the loan agreement. Agbonifo, who featured 13 times for Häcken in the Allsvenskan last season scoring twice has signed a contract extending into 2028 and will now be fully integrated into the French side’s squad.

We are encouraged by Lens’s clear confidence in Agbonifo. Committing to the mandatory purchase clause reflects strategic thinking investing in youth with proven potential rather than speculative gambles. Agbonifo’s one‑minute debut goal was no mere flash-in-the-pan moment
